I'm a journalist who has been working in the newspaper industry for more than a decade.
I currently work in the sports department of the North County Times. I write sometimes, but I tend to be more of a desk guy who does pagination/editing for the printed newsprint.
I graduated from U.C. Riverside in 1989, but there wasn't a curriculum for Web design then.
When I first started working in the newspaper business there was hardly, if any, websites.
The World Wide Web is fairly recent to modern history, and I need to learn more about it.
That's why I'm taking this class. If I want to keep up with the times, I need to be aware of how information is disseminated nowadays --- through the internet.
News by newspapers may possibly become a thing of the past.
